Frequently asked questions

What does GetCampsite do?

GetCampsite brings public campground records, maps, date-based availability, saved campgrounds, and availability alerts into one search experience. Booking is completed with the campground’s official booking provider.

Is availability guaranteed to be current?

No. Availability can change between checks. Always confirm dates, price, rules, and final availability with the official booking provider.

Can I book directly through GetCampsite?

GetCampsite helps you find a site and sends you to the official provider to finish the reservation. Recreation.gov remains the booking provider for supported cart actions.

How do availability alerts work?

GetCampsite periodically checks the campground, dates, and preferences you select and emails you when it finds a match. Alerts are best-effort and do not hold a campsite.

Do I need an account?

No account is needed to search and explore. An account is required for saved campgrounds, managed alerts, reservations, and optional Recreation.gov linking.

Is GetCampsite part of the U.S. government?

No. GetCampsite is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Recreation.gov or any U.S. government agency.
