ALERT: Due to recent bear activity, bear canisters are required for all backpackers in the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness. This is the shortest route to Crested Butte. It offers magnificent views of the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness area and vast fields of wildflowers. The trail ends at Schodfield Park, 14 miles from Crested Butte.
